Outdoor Home Security

We live in troubled times and home security is a must.

But what can we do to protect our families, our homes and our possessions?  In this blog we’ll deal with several simple steps as well as make some product recommendations.  When it comes to home security, our first thoughts may be of cameras, surveillance and alarms but there are inexpensive tips and tricks you can make use of too.  Sometimes a simple, well placed flood light on your property can do the trick.  In future posts I’ll let you know more about what you can do to stay safe in your homes.

Are you looking for cheap home security?  Or maybe you’d like to do it yourself.  Then you’ve come to the right place.  Or maybe you just want some effective backups to the expensive monitoring system you have.  Safeguards that may stop someone before they enter your home, instead of alerting you and/or the authorities with a siren, silent alarm or some other method that someone is already in your home.

There is an endless array of products and systems on the market.  Wired, wireless, CCTV spy or covert video cameras, and a list that goes on and on.  We’ll try to tackle them all here and give you some info on each of them, as well as make some recommendations.

Securing your home, inside and out, does not have to be a hugely expensive process.  Even some simple, inexpensive devices can be a deterrent to a would be thief.  Having said that, can you really put a price tag on peace of mind?  Whatever you feel is necessary to keep your home and family safe, go for it.  Because chances are, if you skimped, you’d end up feeling quite guilty should something ever happen.

So in this blog I’ll discuss all home security systems and their ratings.  From the most expensive home surveillance systems and monitoring companies, to the cheaper do it yourself methods.  And believe me, there are lots of ways you can beef up your home security using some simple tactics.  And I don’t mean buying Cujo the guard dog, although having a big dog and the accompanying “beware of dogs” signs is one of the best things you can do to secure your home.

We’ll get into wired security systems as well as wireless ones that you can install yourself.  We’ll deal with ways to use landscaping to make your home less appealing to vandals and thieves.  Different types of alarm services and what kind might be the best for you.  Want to go all high tech and be able to monitor your home remotely via the internet?  We’ll discuss that as well.  Home automation?  Motion detectors and sensors?  You got it!  We’ll be talking about it at some point, so visit often.

Be well, be safe.  Oh, and check out our Home Security video!
